The other side: Stories from a woman living with her T1D partner

This one is personal. I spent quite a long time pondering whether it’d be appropriate to create a series on sangdoux.com that is not fully dedicated to those living with diabetes; but rather those who live alongside them. Those who might never fully understand what it’s like to live with this autoimmune condition, but who feel and suffer the way people do when someone they dearly love is affected by ill health.

Yet, SANGDOUX is us – it is my partner who so happens to live with T1D and myself, the woman living with him and who tries to make sense of it all. So it only appears natural that this journal, website, and essentially the entire brand aims to include both sides.

With The other side, our new journal series, we are taking the first step towards being more inclusive of those indirectly affected by T1D. We will be sharing personal stories and experiences in the hope of fostering a shared understanding and helping individuals feel less alone.

As with everything we do here at SANGDOUX, we want to ensure that community is at the heart of it all. So if you have a personal story to share as someone who is the sibling, parent, friend, or partner of a Type 1 diabetic that you would like to be featured, we’d be incredibly grateful for you to share it with us.

Stay tuned for our first story.
